Bio

My name is Andrea, but I prefer when people call me by my last name, Piña (which means “pineapple” in Spanish). My pronouns are she/her, but I don’t mind being referred to as they. I am a cis, demisexual, queer, independent anarchist psychologist, I’m independent because I could never follow the rules of the healthcare system, and I can’t start a fire from inside a house. Well, I could if I had to, but I’d rather not. I’d prefer to be outside when I start it.
I was born in Venezuela but immigrated to Oman, Malaysia, Holland, and now I’m in Colombia. This journey left me very confused about my cultural identity but I relate to everyone in those countries. I know I’m brown because the world reminds me of it everyday. My journey taught me that personal experience matters more than “professional” experience when connecting with others.
As a psychologist, I work with immigrants and people going through life transitions like physical conditions, pregnancy, grief, career shifts, relationships, and more. I also offer 2nd opinions and write reports to help people leave psych wards, as I believe they do more harm than good. I believe in healing through community, and not in society's fabricated issues that suppress marginalized groups. I studied the DSM once in Uni and never opened it again.
