Areas of focus
My values and approach come from my learned and lived experiences and my desire to make everyday mental health more accessible and tangible.
I've worked in a broad range of clinical, communal, and residential settings, from inpatient & outpatient to public and private school 504/IEP processes to intensive in-home crisis work with 5+ hours of sessions per client per week. As a result, I have seen and helped clients navigate a lot of the systemic gaps, pitfalls, and failures of the mental health system, especially when not directly in the therapy office. My approach is informative, pragmatic, and compassionate. My work is through various frameworks and lenses, including harm reduction, peer support and empowerment, mental health first aid, and psychoeducation, all wrapped up with intersectional feminism.
My goal is always to meet people where they are, as they are, without judgment, when and how it works for them. I'm here to work with you collaboratively, provide information and resources when beneficial, and learn about you from you and your lived and learned experiences. If you feel like an expert of yourself, then I'm happy to ride copilot. If you have no idea what's going on in your own head or your various environments, we'll map that out together.
I encourage clients to consider looking at their mental health in a more proactive and preventative manner instead of in a reactive aftercare sort of way (while also acknowledging the very real systems beyond individual control that are also at play in daily life). I try to relatively put myself out of a job with each client. Most people shouldn't need to pay for my weekly services indefinitely. I want to get you to a place where we have addressed what you needed to, achieved goals beyond what you initially imagined, and got you to a place where you have the sustainable skills, strategies, and support for long-term growth and change regardless of what may come your way.
