Bio

I am a white, queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled therapist from a working poor background and grew up in rural areas of a red state. The lens I use to view the world has been shaped by experiences connected to those locations. And I work to heal every day; heal from the ways oppression impacts my body, view of self, & view of the world as well as heal from the ways perpetrator & oppressor show up in my body & views. I am committed to leaving the world better than I found it, committed to not passing on the violence that was given to me. I often tell people that I wish the kind of work I do wasn't necessary. But the reality is that violence & trauma are happening all over the world every day, & my work is needed. I feel honored & privileged to be able to walk with my Clients as they do this work. But I would be doing this work even if I wasn't a therapist as I believe this is how I become a better human in the world. This is a step toward our collective healing.

Areas of focus

Much of my work is with adults navigating the impact of complex and developmental trauma, as well as the impacts of acute traumas. Individuals drawn to my practice are often working to heal from childhood abuse and neglect, sexual violence, intimate partner abuse or domestic violence, hate crimes, and other forms of oppression. I utilize a social justice-oriented framework, systemic perspective and intersectional approach in my work with Clients. I am a somatic therapist and incorporate understanding of research in the trauma field focused in neurophysiological impacts of trauma, including intergenerational and gestational trauma. Further, I understand the trauma of oppression and how it can shape the ways we move our bodies through the world. I utilize practices from Gestalt, Hakomi, and EMDR Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate nature-based therapy, experiential therapy, and mindfulness practices.
