Areas of focus
I approach therapy through the lenses of systemic Liberation Psychology, Queer Theory, and Feminist Theory. I strive to always lead anti-oppression work that is trauma aware, and that starts with you being able to open up as your authentic self.
To delve deeper into the theory behind the work I do, you will find that I practice and hold harm reduction as a therapeutic tool. I support liberation, which includes fat liberation. I will never recommend weight loss as a potential fix to distress. I am sex positive, kink knowledgable, affirming of consensual non-monogamy in all its forms, and sex-worker inclusive. I have a focus on LGBTGEQIAP+ populations as I am queer myself, but I also work with many allies! I offer an affirming approach to non-religious and/or atheist individuals, as well as those who are part marginalized religions and/or belief systems.
I am an integrative therapist, and am constantly learning new tools and approaches to better support my clients in an individualized way. I view therapy through the bio-psycho-social model, and am especially interested in the mind-body connection. Because of this I often utilize embodiment exercises and work with polyvagal theory, and other somatic therapies. For trauma work I use Internal Family systems (IFS) and am trained in EMDR.
I find it particularly rewarding to help folx who are sexually marginalized included but not limited to kinky folx, disabled and/or chronically ill folx, fat folx, those who are exploring their gender and/or sexual orientation. I Specialize in working with neurodivergent folks, systems, those who have experienced abuse and/or trauma, and those who are struggling with sexual distress.
