Areas of focus
My focus is decolonizing therapy and I incorporate social justice concepts into my practice. I believe that experiencing healing is a means of experiencing justice, and is ultimately in service of collective liberation.
Hello, Im Sneha! [pronounced as snay-ha & means love ?] I am trained as a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) & have been working with marginalized communities for 9+ years.
In the words of Jiddu Krishnamurti: "It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." I recognize that our mental health challenges are valid responses to unhealthy & unjust societal conditions and I am dedicated to decolonizing mental health care. Therefore, I focus on understanding how people's life experiences, traumas, social conditions, & identities impact them, rather than so-called symptoms & diagnoses.
My work is also centered on the healing power of relationships, informed by the collectivist Indian culture that I grew up in. I have a gentle & grounding presence and I am affirming & empowering in my care. I bring my fierce compassion & playful curiosity to the sacred work of healing.
I am also a lover of cats, plants, photography, ceramics, tattoos, astrology, and tea :)
*At present, I am exploring coaching & peer support models in efforts to practice a more radical form of care that can bridge existing gaps and offer more creative, anti-oppressive alternatives. As part of this, I am working on creating in-person & virtual group offerings such as therapeutic collaging and a book club!*
My focus is decolonizing therapy and I incorporate social justice concepts into my practice. I believe that experiencing healing is a means of experiencing justice, and is ultimately in service of collective liberation.
